Buffalo forward Tage Thompson scored 5 goals against Columbus.


The 25-year-old striker scored in the NHL regular season match by upcoming football events with the Blue Jackets (9:4).


He became the second player in Sabers history with 5 goals in a game. The first was Dave Andreichuk in February 1986.


Note that Teij scored the first 4 goals in the first period. This is only the 4th case in the history of the NHL - after Joe Malone (1921), Grant Mulvey (1982) and Peter Bondra (1994).


He also has an assist today. On account of Thompson was 40 (21+19) points in 26 matches.


He came in 3rd in the scoring race ahead of Connor McDavid (Edmonton, 24 goals in 27 games) and Jason Robertson (Dallas, 23 goals in 26 games).
